Producer Kenisha Johnson, with whom I’ve worked on a few film projects now, brought me on board this valuable socially-conscious documentary project, co-produced, directed and presented by Atlantan filmmaker Ryan Ashley Lowery.
“Light Up is a film that tells the stories of same gender loving men and a transgender woman who found their superpower by living in their truth.”
Ryan and I quickly established an effective collaborative exchange of ideas, and formed a close working relationship that fostered an easy creative atmosphere throughout the time I spent working on his film. In addition to his impressive film making skills, Ryan is a truly effective communicator and gave me clear and concise notes on every step of the soundtrack production; his brief was to compose a bespoke and fully synced score that was dynamic to the nature of the stories presented by the principle interviewees, all the while showing sensitivity to their deeply emotional experiences and traumatic struggles in the LGBTQ+ community of Atlanta, GA and beyond.
